Internal Kung Fu (also known as "Gongfu") is a lifetime practice and the Ballarat Kung Fu Academy is dedicated to providing a high level of ongoing training and study in the graceful and relaxing martial arts of tai chi, hsing-yi and bagua. The Ballarat Kung Fu Academy is dedicated to Chen Pan Ling's style of Tai Chi Chuan, now represented by his son, Chen Yun Ching.

The Ballarat Kung Fu Academy was formed in 2006 and is currently the only school teaching a martial form of Tai Chi Chuan in Ballarat. Our mission is to preserve and teach authentic Chinese martial arts, providing the highest quality training in the ancient disciplines of Tai Chi Chuan, Hsing Yi Chuan, Ba Gua Zhang, Karate and the unique "Mountain Top Boxing," which has its roots in the Shaolin style of boxing.
Our Head Instructor, Bill Mioch, has studied martial arts since the age of 9. He achieved his first dan black belt in Karate in February 2006. He has studied various styles of Tai Chi since 2003. His studies have seen him train under some of the world's greatest living masters in Tai Chi Chuan, including training in Taiwan under Master Wang Fu Lai (world-wide head of the Cheng Ming system and foremost student of Wang Shu Jin), and more recently under Chen Yun Ching, son of Chen Pan Ling and world-wide head of the Chen Pan Ling style. He continues training regularly at the Wu Lin dojo in Lancefield, run by the incomparable martial artist and instructor, James Sumarac.
We are affiliated with two schools of martial arts. Our Karate is affiliated with Hikaru Ryu, based in Perth, and our instructors travel to Perth for training and discussion. We are also affiliated and directly associated with the Wu Lin school of martial arts in Lancefield, Victoria. Our instructors travel regularly to Lancefield to further their education in Chinese Kung Fu. BKFA is also a part of the International Alliance Of Martial Arts Schools (IAOMAS), a student report network with member schools in more than 75 countries.
